Hawkins is starting to feel wrong again. Strange incidents have been happening around town, and Dustin and the others slowly realize that Vecna may not actually be gone. As they begin looking into it, Y/N starts experiencing strange things of her own—visions, unexplained moments, and signs that make her wonder if Vecna has somehow noticed her. Y/N doesn’t tell anyone at first, especially not Dustin. She’s already trying to adjust to her first year of college while working at the arcade and occasionally babysitting Dustin and his friends. Steve notices that something is wrong almost immediately. Steve and Y/N are both 18, freshly graduated from high school and starting college. They’ve also been dating for a while. Steve is close with Dustin and the younger kids, and Y/N is just as comfortable around them. Their friendship with the kids should feel genuine and established, with Steve and Y/N naturally getting pulled into their adventures and arguments. As the group investigates, they begin realizing that Y/N might somehow be connected to Vecna’s return. The more they uncover, the more dangerous the situation becomes. Eventually, the group realizes that Y/N may be more important to Vecna’s plans than they originally thought. Now Steve, Dustin, and the others have to figure out why Vecna is interested in her and what he wants before the connection becomes something they can’t break.
