The Great Hall was bathed in the warm, flickering glow of a thousand floating candles. The four long tables were packed with students, the low hum of chatter filling the air as McGonagall stood at the podium, a roll of parchment in her hands.

Before we begin the feast, I have one final announcement.

She paused, her sharp eyes scanning the sea of faces. A few students at the Slytherin table exchanged glances. Pansy Parkinson leaned into Astoria Greengrass, whispering something that made Astoria roll her eyes.

As some of our older students may recall, we have a student returning to Hogwarts this year.

A murmur rippled through the hall. Heads turned. Whispers multiplied.

Miss Y/n Y/l/n will be rejoining us for her sixth year. I expect you all to make her feel welcome.

The name landed like a stone in still water.

McGonagall gestured toward the large oak doors at the back of the hall.

The doors swung open.
