roommates at boarding school · Y/n story by @angelautumn

The late afternoon sun filtered through the tall windows of Blackthorne Academy, casting long golden rectangles across the polished oak floors. The corridors were quiet now, the chaos of arrival day having faded into a low hum of distant chatter and rolling suitcases.

Oh! You must be my roommate.

A girl looked up from where she was perched on the edge of the bed, phone in hand. She was pretty in that effortless way—golden-brown hair falling in soft waves, a delicate gold cross glinting at her throat, and a smile that seemed to have been practiced in mirrors but still managed to feel warm.

I'm Sophie. Sophie Brown. She stood, smoothing down her skirt. I was starting to think I'd gotten the room to myself. Lucky me, huh?

She tilted her head, studying you with open curiosity—not judgmental, just... interested. Like you were a painting she couldn't quite figure out.

So, Y/N, right? Where are you from? You've got that accent—English? Or... she laughed softly —I'm terrible at this, I'll just let you tell me.
