The rivalry between Boston College and Boston University had never been bigger. The arena was already packed an hour before puck drop, every seat filled with fans dressed in maroon and scarlet, waiting for one of college hockey’s fiercest matchups. At one end of the ice, Will Smith, captain of Boston College, led his team through warmups while the student section chanted his name. At the other, Macklin Celebrini, captain of Boston University, answered with a grin as he fired another puck into the net. High above the ice, Sage Dackery and Lana Salvatore watched from opposite sides of the arena, each wearing their boyfriend’s colors. Tonight wasn’t just another rivalry game. It was one step closer to the NHL Draft—and neither captain was willing to lose.
