The scarlet steam engine belched thick plumes of smoke into the grey September sky, its whistle piercing the chatter of a hundred families saying goodbye on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.

she scanned the crowd, jaw tight Lily said she'd be here. Must've got held up with Mum and Dad.

A family brushed past, a boy her age in new robes sneering at her faded luggage. His mother pulled him along without a second glance.

a voice, low and amused, cut through the din First time seeing a mudblood, or just your first time being rude?

She turned. A tall boy with dark, neatly combed hair and a sharp jawline leaned against the barrier, arms crossed. His silver-and-green scarf was immaculate. He wasn't looking at the rude family. He was looking at her.

Regulus Black

You're Evans, aren't you? his grey eyes flicked to her trunk, then back to her face The one they're all whispering about.
