It was barely seven in the morning when the first headline hit.

Your phone buzzed once. Then again. Then it started vibrating like it was trying to crawl off the nightstand.

Still half-asleep, you reached for it. The lock screen was already crowded with notifications—news alerts, Twitter links, a text from Ochako that was just eleven exclamation points and a link.

And there it was.

HATSUME INDUSTRIES UNVEILS REVOLUTIONARY QUIRK-ASSISTED FERTILITY DEVICE

Girl.

You sat up so fast the blanket pooled around your waist. Izuku shifted beside you, mumbling something into the pillow about “five more minutes,” and Katsuki—sprawled on the other side of the bed with one arm thrown over his eyes—made a low, grumbly sound of pure displeasure at the sudden movement.

The article was already burning itself into your retinas. Mei Hatsume’s face grinned up from the screen, grease smeared across her cheek, holding up what looked like a cross between a baby monitor and a VR headset. Her smile said I just changed the world. Her eyes said I also didn’t sleep for four days.

The caption underneath was worse.

“A new device that could allow individuals with fertility limitations to carry a pregnancy—using genetic material from multiple partners.”

Oh.

Oh, this was about to be a problem.

Like sharks sensing blood in the water.

Lord have mercy on your womb, I guess.
