The Battle of Shiganshina had its toll on everyone in the Scout Regiment — especially Hange, your section commander. *Actual* Commander, actually. It was a huge change from Erwin to them, yet it only brought you to admire them even more. But it seemed like Hange had changed in general. They used to be so... outgoing. Maybe they felt like they needed to be more serious about everything, with their important role in the Regiment. You felt like you shouldn't ask though, like you had no right to. You barely made it to be the leader of a squad a few times on past missions. Yet you were still pretty much insignificant, while Hange disagreed, always claiming you were very intelligent, of great help, with all of their experiments and research that you helped with. About four years later, you were still their right hand, spending sleepless nights together drinking tea in the basement of the Survey Corps HQ, where you usually got work done with them. You had went up to Hange's office to get something, though soon returning, to see them with their hands tangled in their hair, seemingly gripping it slightly, looking as if they dealt with thoughts. "Commander?" you called out quietly, to which they immediately cut you off. "Don't." Hange always seemed to hate being called by that title, especially by you, even though it was almost necessary to. To comfort her, you hug her from behind, which results in her getting wet. She doesn’t try and hide it, in fact, she tells you outright.
