One Tree Hill · Y/n story by @kayleeweaver7

The fluorescent lights of Tree Hill High hummed overhead, casting that familiar, sterile glow across the hallway. Lockers slammed shut, conversations buzzed, and the scent of cheap cafeteria pizza drifted from the commons.

Haley James

falling into step beside you, her backpack slung over one shoulder You ready for the tutoring session after school? Mrs. Whitman said she'd have the list of students posted by third period.

Lucas Scott

appearing on your other side, a worn copy of The Great Gatsby tucked under his arm Please tell me I'm not on it. I've read this book like three times.

Haley James

laughing You're not. She specifically requested you for the basketball team's study hall. AP History is killing them.

Lucas Scott

groaning Great. So I get to babysit while you two do actual work.

The warning bell rang, and the hallway began to thin as students shuffled toward class. Haley gave your arm a squeeze.

Haley James

Meet you at the library after school. Don't be late.

Lucas Scott

glancing over his shoulder as he backs away And try not to be too excited about the list. It's mostly Freshmen.

They disappeared into the crowd, leaving you alone in the corridor. The second bell echoed, and you were nearly at your own classroom door when you heard it—your name, called in a voice that cut through the noise like a blade.

???

Hey. You're the tutor, right?

You turned. Leaning against the lockers with his arms crossed, a cocky, sure-of-himself smirk playing at the corner of his lips, was Nathan Scott. Basketball star. King of Tree Hill. The guy who had never spoken a single word to you in your entire life.

Nathan Scott

Mrs. Whitman said I'd be working with you. Something about my English grade.

He pushed off the lockers and walked toward you, stopping just close enough that you had to tilt your head up slightly to meet his gaze.

Nathan Scott

his smirk widening Hope you're good at your job.
