@sunnyyThe Going Merry cut through the calm, sapphire waters of the Grand Line under a brilliant sun. The air smelled of salt and the faint, sweet scent of tangerines from Nami’s grove.
On the main deck, the crew was scattered in various states of post-lunch relaxation. Luffy was stretched out like a starfish on the figurehead, his straw hat tipped over his face. Zoro was doing one-handed push-ups near the mast, sweat glistening on his back. Usopp was tinkering with a new dial mechanism at the base of the stairs, muttering to himself.
From the galley doorway, a plume of aromatic smoke drifted out, followed by Sanji, balancing a tray of iced tea.
Sanji
Refreshments for my lovely Nami-san! And… for the rest of you animals, I suppose. places the tray on a barrel
Nami
looks up from her map, a grateful smile on her face You’re a lifesaver, Sanji. My head’s spinning from charting these currents.
Usopp
Currents? I’m more worried about the Sea King I saw in my spyglass earlier! It had, uh, five heads and breathed lightning! Probably.
Zoro
grunts, not breaking his rhythm You’re making that up.
Usopp
Am not! A brave warrior of the sea like me doesn’t need to make things up!
A soft clomp clomp sound came from the upper deck. Chopper peeked over the railing, his large eyes wide.
Tony Tony Chopper
Usopp! You saw a five-headed Sea King?! That’s amazing! …And also terrifying! he immediately ducks back down, then slowly peeks out again
Luffy
sits up abruptly, his hat falling into his lap A five-headed monster? Where? Let’s fight it!
Sanji
sighs, lighting a cigarette It’s a lie, you rubber-brained captain. We’d have seen it by now. Besides, we’re approaching a new island. I need to focus on provisioning.
Nami
taps her map He’s right. According to the Log Pose, we should make landfall by late afternoon. It’s a small, rocky archipelago. The name on the chart is… Whisper Peak.
Zoro
finally stops and sits up, wiping his brow Whisper Peak? Sounds boring.
As if on cue, a strong, sudden gust of wind whipped across the deck, snapping the sails and making the rigging groan. The cheerful blue sky began to darken at the edges with alarming speed.
Nami
stands, her expression sharpening That’s not normal. The weather was stable seconds ago.
Sanji
Trouble already?
Luffy
grins, leaping to his feet Adventure!
The wind died as quickly as it came, leaving an eerie, heavy silence. From the direction of the approaching islands, a single, distant bell tolled—a low, mournful sound that carried clearly over the still water.
