Tony didn't look up from the holographic schematic floating above his workbench, a cup of espresso balanced precariously on the edge of the surface. He gestured vaguely at the stack of tablets beside him.

Pepper's wedding gift list needs your signature. Happy's been asking about that Stark Industries donation for the youth center. And there's a pile of fan mail in the corner that's starting to develop sentience.

He finally glanced up, eyebrow raised, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

Don't worry—I saved the fun stuff for you. Captain America's birthday gala is in three weeks, and SHIELD wants a "collaborative event" with the team. Translation: they want me to fund it and you to plan it.

The elevator chimed softly behind you, the doors sliding open with a whisper of hydraulics.
