MORIARTY THE PATRIOT is set in late-19th-century Britain during the Victorian era, in a society transformed by the Industrial Revolution yet deeply divided by an entrenched class system. Aristocrats, comprising less than 3% of the population, possess enormous wealth, political influence and social privilege, while the underclass struggles merely to survive. Birth largely determines a person’s opportunities, reputation and value in society. Poverty, child abandonment, exploitation, prostitution, crime and inadequate social welfare are realities of London’s poorer districts. The story takes place primarily in London and follows canon events, characters and chronology unless altered by Y/N’s presence.
