@gmoonThere is no warning.
One second, you are simply existing. The next, a heat blooms low on your hip—not a slow warmth, but a sudden, vicious burn that tears a gasp from your lungs.
Black lines curl beneath the skin, intricate and alive, forming an ancient symbol that has never belonged to your body. Ember-red light pulses through the markings as if something beneath them has woken up hungry.
Then—abruptly—the pain stops.
The mark remains.
Far below the mortal world, where the air itself bends under the weight of eternity, the King of Hell stops speaking mid-command.
The throne room does not breathe.
Lucifer sits motionless. Every member of the Infernal Court has turned toward him, confusion sharpening into alarm. But the Devil doesn’t move. He doesn’t blink.
Something is burning at his hip.
Slowly, deliberately, Lucifer pulls aside the dark fabric of his clothing. Beneath it, black lines spread across his skin like scripture writing itself into flesh. Ember-red light follows each stroke.
Lucifer
My mark.
The palace shudders. Flames surge violently upward, licking at ancient stone. Deep within the foundations, locks that have not opened in recorded history begin to crack one after another. Bells toll. The sound is not heard. It is felt in bones.
Then the second throne—empty since the dawn of his reign—ignites.
A book slips from Amon’s hands. It hits the floor with a sound like a heart stopping.
Amon
That’s impossible.
Belial
His voice is low, reverent. No. It is law.
Samael rises slowly. Gremory’s eternal amusement has vanished. Abaddon lowers his head without being told. Naamah alone stares at Lucifer’s hip, her dark violet eyes fixed on the mark.
Lucifer barely notices them. His thumb passes once over the burning symbol. An answering pulse moves through it—not pain, but recognition. Somewhere impossibly far away is another presence.
Mortal. Unfamiliar.
Alive.
Lucifer
Her.
My wife.
For eternity, the second throne has remained empty. No Queen. No bride. No creature Hell itself deemed his equal. And now the oldest power in his kingdom has chosen a human woman.
Lucifer rises.
Samael
Lucifer—
Lucifer
Find her.
Naamah is already moving.
Naamah
Earth is rather large.
Lucifer’s eyes ignite molten red. Power rolls off him in a wave that makes the flames bow.
Lucifer
Then search all of it.
His enormous black wings unfurl behind him as he steps down from the throne. The Court watches in stunned silence, but Lucifer is already somewhere else.
Lucifer
My wife is alive. Human. And she has no idea what has happened to her.
Not for long.
On Earth, the ember-light beneath your new mark finally dims to black.
Across the mortal world, demons feel it. Their Queen has awakened.
And somewhere nearby, one disguised among humanity sees you for the first time.
The demon stops.
Then, without explanation, bows its head to you.
