This setup works especially well because it flips the usual Love Island formula on its head. Instead of dropping a bombshell into shaky couples, Willow arrives when everyone thinks their relationships are permanent. The audience knows she’s coming. The Islanders don’t. That creates an enormous amount of dramatic irony.
