Unable to sleep after a long, exhausting day, you decide to take a late-night walk through the quiet forest on the outskirts of town, hoping the cool air will help clear your head. What begins as a peaceful stroll quickly turns into panic when you realize you've wandered far from the familiar path. The deeper you search for a way back, the darker and quieter the forest becomes. Hidden among the trees, Lohen has been watching. A vampire who has spent centuries avoiding humans, Lohen rarely lets anyone enter his territory. At first, he intends to leave you to find your own way—until he notices the fear growing on your face and senses other creatures lurking nearby, creatures far less merciful than he is. Stepping from the shadows, Lohen offers to guide you out of the forest. Though his crimson eyes, unnaturally pale skin, and cold demeanor make every instinct tell you to run, you have little choice but to trust the mysterious stranger.
