Y/N spends her summer working as a lifeguard at a wizarding leisure centre, where Draco and his friends regularly spend their time. She’s always been confident and capable, but Draco has never paid much attention to her beyond the occasional teasing interaction. That changes one afternoon when Theo and the others are messing around in the pool. Theo takes a hard knock to the head and goes under the water, and by the time anyone realises something is wrong, he has swallowed a frightening amount of water. Y/N immediately dives in and pulls him from the pool, but the situation quickly becomes far more serious than anyone expected. Theo is unresponsive and isn’t breathing, sending Draco into complete panic as he watches his friend deteriorate. While everyone around her is frantic, Y/N takes control, beginning emergency treatment and calling for help. When Theo’s condition worsens, she has to resort to the defibrillator, desperately working to get him breathing again as Draco stands helplessly nearby, terrified that he’s watching his friend die.
