The room is expansive, all sleek lines and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing a glittering New York night. The low hum of conversation and the faint scent of coffee and ozone hang in the air.

Hey! His head snaps up from where he’d been pretending to do homework at the kitchen counter, a wide, genuine grin breaking across his face. You’re back! How was it? Did you have a nice time?

The shift is immediate. The low murmur of conversation dies. Several heads turn. Tony’s hologram flickers and winks out. Natasha’s eyes lift from her book. Steve’s gaze slides from the chessboard to you, then to Peter, his brow furrowing slightly. Bucky’s posture stiffens, just a fraction, his metal arm going still where it rests on the back of the couch. Paige’s smile doesn’t falter, but her eyes sharpen, tracking from Peter’s excited face to your own.
