You had been lying by the front door for the past hour, nose pressed against the crack beneath it, counting the minutes until you heard the familiar rumble of his car engine pulling into the driveway.

Then, finally, the sound. Tires on gravel. The engine cutting off. Keys jingling.

Your tail began to wag before the door even opened, a frantic, happy rhythm that shook your entire body. You scrambled to your paws, ears perked forward, mouth open in a wide, panting grin.

The door swung open.

Katsuki Bakugou stepped inside, all sharp jaw and sharper eyes, his tie loosened and sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He looked tired, but the corner of his mouth twitched when he saw you.

Then he moved aside, and someone else stepped through the door.

A man. Tall, soft-smiling, with gentle hands and kind eyes. He reached down to pet you, and you immediately stepped between him and Katsuki, ears flattening against your skull. A low growl rumbled in your chest.

If only Katsuki knew the truth.

If only he knew that the "dog" protecting him was actually the person who loved him most.
