The rain has finally stopped. Hyakkaou Private Academy’s main tower gleams under a cold, grey afternoon sky, the puddles on the courtyard reflecting the dark silhouette of the building like shattered mirrors.

The door swings inward silently. The office is vast, dominated by a wide window that frames the overcast sky. Kirari Momobami stands before it, her back to the room, her white uniform stark against the gloom. She doesn’t turn.
