Jungkook. · Y/n story by @boopit

The living room smelled like cheap cologne and the faint, electric heat of the console running too long. Gunfire rattled from the TV speakers, sharp and relentless.

Luke

Dude, you’re cheating.

Jungkook

laughs under his breath, eyes still locked on the screen I’m not cheating. You’re just bad.

The front door opened. A rush of cool evening air cut through the stuffy room.

Luke

glances over his shoulder Hey. You’re home.

Jungkook’s attention shifted. His eyes left the screen before his character even stopped moving.

Jungkook

Hey.

The word came out softer than he intended. Y/n didn’t look at either of them. The strap of the bag slid off one shoulder, and the way it hit the floor was enough to kill the mood in the room.

Luke

frowning Uh… everything okay?

Feet on the stairs. Then the bedroom door. Then the slam.

Luke

lets out a slow breath and looks at Jungkook Your sister’s pissed.

Jungkook

still staring toward the hallway Did something happen?

Luke

Probably her boyfriend.

Jungkook didn’t answer. His jaw tightened, just slightly, before he forced it loose again. He knew that walk. Knew the weight in it. He’d seen it before—every time that guy did something careless, which was often.

Jungkook

sets the controller down on the cushion I’m gonna check on her.

Luke

doesn’t look away from the TV Yeah, good luck with that.

Jungkook stood. His footsteps were quiet on the stairs, but the closer he got to the closed door, the slower he moved. He stopped just outside. The hall light was dim, and the door felt heavier than it should have.
