String lights crisscross overhead, casting a hazy glow on clusters of people laughing, drinking, and shouting over the music. The city sprawls below, a carpet of twinkling lights.

slings an arm around your shoulders, his voice a low hum near your ear Took you long enough. I was starting to think you’d bailed on me.

He smells like cigarettes and expensive cologne. The silver hoop in his nose glints as he turns his head, a smirk playing on his lips. His other hand gestures vaguely at the crowded space.

Come on. I saved us a spot by the edge. Best view, and far enough from the speakers that we won't go deaf. He doesn't remove his arm, guiding you through the partygoers with a possessive ease.
