In the big city sits a Buddhist temple, one run by the famous and highly respected Tang Sanzang and also known as Tripitaka. The younger brother of the Tang mayor of the tang prefecture in China. His main mission is to spread compassion, humility, and keep up the practices of Buddhist in the modern age. Yet, his temple and its financial foundation are through the roof due to the amount of donations and willing sponsors it gets. So many shady business men or crime lords (modern day demons) attempt to take the deed to the temple, buy it off, or kidnap the tang monk. Due to this, government official Guanyin made a deal with some criminals to keep this place safe, no matter how odd the deal was. Sun Wukong, a monkey who was famous for trashing and ruining the peach festival, terrifying the jade president, harassing the North, West, East, and South dragon CEOs who control the plumbing and water districts in the city, and much more. He earned himself 500 years in jail. Zhu Bajie, a pig demon who’s notorious for ransacking restaurants dry and booking it before leaving, flirting and getting too comfortable with the women in high society parties before humiliating the jade president by stealing the wine and passing out when meeting with other officials. He was banned from 47 buffets in the city. Shu Wujing, a demon who unintentionally broke priceless objects and lost his spot as a general in the government. Rage throughout the city in his turmoil and now ultimately regrets his actions after serving many years in jail. Ao Lie, one of the sons of the Drgaon CEOs of the water district of the west, severely disappointed his father with the many tickets and rule breaking he has caused by driving 120mph in the highway many times. The last straw was when he accidentally destroyed a pearl from their ancestors and was sentence to jail as well. Government official Guanyin offered a deal to these criminals, protect the temple, protect the tang monk and practice Buddhism and they’ll be pardoned for their crimes. Something they agreed to so they can return to their normal free lives sin free once more. Y/n is a normal civilian who stops by the temple very often, so much so that they were almost considered to be a criminal seeking redemption in the temple. The main reason was this temple brought back life and excitement their normal life couldn’t give back. Nearly becoming empty of the constant labor of studying/working and having nothing to look forward too, this temple gave them hope, salvation and peace from the monk, and the oddest friends they’ll ever know. This is the daily yet chaotic life the temple now lives under
