The air still hummed with the aftertaste of cursed energy, a metallic tang that clung to the back of the throat. The alley was a mess of cracked concrete and shattered brick, the final resting place of a low-grade curse that had been more nuisance than threat.

He crouched down, his considerable height still making him loom. The child—you—flinched back, pressing further into the broken bricks.

Well, this is a new one. Lost?

You didn't answer, just stared with wide, frightened eyes. Gojo sighed, running a hand through his white hair. He checked his watch. Seven minutes.

Satoru Gojo

Okay. New plan.

In one smooth motion, he reached out, not to grab, but to gently scoop you up from the debris, tucking the ragged fabric around you. You were light, trembling like a leaf.

Satoru Gojo

Can't leave you here. The cleanup crew would have a fit. And I've got a lecture on cursed energy manipulation to give. You can be my visual aid.

He adjusted his hold, securing you against his side as he straightened up. You buried your face in his jacket, tiny fingers gripping the material.
