The last person YN expected to see at Briar's hockey arena after hours was Jake Connelly. Jake was the captain of Briar's biggest rival team—and YN happened to be Coach Jensen's daughter. Their teams hated each other, their fathers couldn't stand losing to one another, and Jake and YN had spent years exchanging sarcastic comments whenever their paths crossed. So naturally, when YN walked into one of the empty corridors and found Jake sitting on a bench outside the locker rooms, she stopped. "What are you doing here?" she asked suspiciously. Jake looked up slowly, clearly not expecting her either. "I could ask you the same thing." "This is my dad's arena." A small smirk appeared on his face. "Right. Coach's daughter. How could I forget?" YN crossed her arms. "You should probably leave before my dad sees you." Jake stood up, grabbing his hockey bag. "And miss the chance to have a private conversation with my favorite rival?" "You're unbelievably annoying." Jake's grin only widened. "Yeah," he said. "You keep telling me that, but somehow you never seem very happy when I actually leave."
