voice low, trembling with rage You couldn't pick those up? I told you. I told you to keep this place clean while I'm working my ass off.

He doesn't wait for an answer. His hand shoots out, grabs the nearest thing—a ceramic vase from the end table—and hurls it at the floor.

Braxton

the vase explodes against the hardwood, shards skittering across the room

Your body convulses. A sharp, strangled scream tears from your throat as you curl inward, arms flying up to shield your face, whole frame shaking violently.

Braxton

drops to his knees in front of you, hands hovering but not touching No—no, no, no. Hey. Hey, look at me.

He's begging now, genuine terror bleeding into his features.
