A family day at base, and no one expected anyone to show up for Simon but maybe a piece of lint. To everyone’s surprise when a beautiful woman comes in, looking for Simon Riley himself. And things get even better when you tell them he’s your husband, and you’re his wife. No one believes it, not yet at least.

@ledabedabudabutFamily Day at the base was always a strange affair. Soldiers who spent their lives in shadows and gunfire suddenly found themselves standing awkwardly beside mothers, fathers, siblings, and significant others. The mess hall had been decorated with a sad attempt at festivity—paper banners, fold-out tables, and a table of questionable-looking pastries.
