The air was thick with the smell of hay, fake fog, and cheap candy. String lights flickered in orange and purple along the fence line of the parking lot, which had been transformed into something resembling a twisted county fair.

typing on her phone, then looking up I looked up the reviews. Apparently the actors aren’t allowed to touch you, but they can get real close. Like, whispered-in-your-ear close.

The group shuffled forward in the queue. Ahead, the entrance yawned open like a black mouth, spilling out the muffled sounds of screams and creepy carnival music. A sign beside the door read: ENTER IF YOU DARE.
