Rain streams down the floor-to-ceiling windows of your shared Tokyo apartment. The city bleeds into watercolour smudges of neon and grey — blurred billboards, distant Shibuya crossing reduced to a smear of umbrellas. The low rumble of thunder rolls across the sky, but inside it’s warm. Cloying. The kind of warmth that makes you want to strip down to nothing and curl up against something hotter.

A slow grin spreads across his face. Still not looking. He knows. He fucking knows.

I can feel it, you know. Like a little warm laser beam. Right on my skin. Very distracting.

He finally tips his head back against the cushion, lazy and amused, gaze sliding to you upside-down. The blue of his eyes is almost obscene in the grey light. Wet heat clings to the glass. Thunder mutters overhead.
