Y/N is a thirteen-year-old orphan who has spent most of her childhood moving between foster homes, always longing for a place she could truly call home. One day, she is adopted by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert and brought to Green Gables in Avonlea, where she slowly begins to feel like she finally belongs. At school, Y/N quickly becomes close friends with Diana, but she also catches the attention of Gilbert Blythe. Although Gilbert is curious about her and tries to get her attention, Diana and the other girls tell Y/N that she should not talk to him. Gilbert teases her, even calling her “Carrots,” which leads to their famous classroom confrontation.
