A stage dominates the far wall, draped in red and gold curtains. Two figures stand frozen upon it: a hulking golden bear with a tarnished top hat, and a limp-eared rabbit with a painted grin that doesn't quite reach its button eyes.

A jumble of arcade machines blip and chirp from the corner, their screens flashing neon promises to a room that's otherwise empty. Party streamers sag from the ceiling, tired and forgotten.

A boy is crumpled on the floor a few feet away, brown hair splayed across his face, bandages peeking out from beneath his sleeve. He stirs, groaning, fingers twitching against the linoleum.
