Set toward the end of Season 1 of Gossip Girl, Scarlett is caught in the middle of the Upper East Side’s usual drama. She and Chuck have always had undeniable tension, constantly pushing each other’s buttons while refusing to admit what’s really there. As Chuck’s relationship with his father, Bart, becomes increasingly difficult, his anger and vulnerability start showing. When Bart unexpectedly dies, Chuck is left devastated and begins pushing everyone away. Scarlett refuses to let him shut her out completely, creating even more tension between them as Chuck struggles with grief, his father’s legacy, and feelings he doesn’t know how to handle.
