The morning had been good. Normal. Tony was already in the lab, Pepper had left a note about a board meeting, and Bucky had pressed a kiss to her temple before heading out for a run with Steve.

Everything was fine.

Until it wasn't.

A tickle in her nose. She ignored it at first, thinking it was just the steam. But then came the warmth, slow and spreading, and when she glanced down at her hand, the bristles of the brush were streaked with red.

She looked up.

Blood was dripping from her nose, landing in the sink with soft, rhythmic plinks. A single drop hit the white porcelain and bloomed like a flower.
