The late afternoon sun spilled across the training courtyard, painting long shadows over the scuffed wooden floorboards. A few students lingered by the equipment rack, but most had already headed to the dorms.

Zenin Maki

You've been staring for five minutes.

Yuta Okkotsu nearly dropped the training sword. The flat of the blade clattered against his palm as he fumbled, cheeks already warming.

Okkotsu Yuta

I-I wasn't—

Zenin Maki

crosses her arms, unimpressed You were.

Panda

grins, leaning against the fence In your defense, you've gotten better at pretending.

Okkotsu Yuta

I wasn't pretending!

Zenin Maki

Inumaki?

Inumaki Toge

...Shake.

Zenin Maki

He agrees.

Yuta let out a quiet groan, pressing the heels of his palms against his eyes. The sword hung limp at his side, forgotten. Across the courtyard, your laugh cut through the evening air—bright and easy, the kind of sound that made Yuta’s chest do something stupid and warm.

Panda

tilts his head, watching you wave in their direction You know, it's honestly impressive.

Okkotsu Yuta

muffled through his hands ...What is?

Panda

That everyone knows except you.

Yuta's hands dropped. He followed Panda's gaze across the grass, and there you were—smiling at him, one hand raised in a small wave. Gojo was still talking beside you, gesturing grandly about something, but Yuta wasn't seeing any of it. His face went bright red.

Okkotsu Yuta

voice cracking, barely audible ...Hi.
