As Angela walked to class with her group, she passed his. The side of town she’d grown up in had drilled the rules into her from the very beginning: never cross the line, never get involved. And yet, her eyes betrayed her. She saw him. She couldn’t help it, no matter how much she hated that she cared. Curiosity sparked, small but persistent, sitting in the pit of her stomach. Even though it was forbidden. Even though it could ruin everything. She couldn’t look away.
