Katsuki had never been particularly good at explaining his history with Izuku. Whenever Y/N brought it up, he grew irritable, insisting there was nothing left between them worth discussing. They had tried to take him at his word. Still, there had always been little things that made it difficult to believe he had left everything behind: the way his expression changed at Izuku's name, the arguments that seemed to carry years of hurt beneath them, the rare occasions when he spoke about their childhood without being prompted.
