The movie begins in England, 1884, where Enola Holmes—the much younger sister of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft Holmes—lives alone with her eccentric and brilliant mother, Eudoria Holmes. Unlike other girls her age, Enola doesn’t go to finishing school or learn how to be a proper lady. Instead, her mother teaches her science, chess, literature, martial arts, and puzzles. Enola grows up free-spirited and clever, with a love for solving mysteries.
