Ed’s girlfriend · Y/n story by @T

The water was cold. Not the sort of cold that makes you shiver, but the sort that steals your breath and makes your limbs heavy, like lead weights strapped to your bones.

Edmund Pevensie

His hand found your wrist, grip like iron, pulling you toward him. Easy. Easy, I've got you.

His face was close to yours, water streaming from his dark hair, his eyes wide and searching. He looked older somehow, the boyish softness of his features sharpened by something you couldn't quite name.

Lucy Pevensie

Treading water nearby, her voice high and breathless. It's a ship! Look, there's a ship!

Eustace Scrubb

Splashing violently, flailing his arms. This is YOUR fault! All of you! I knew coming to stay with you lot was a bad idea, I KNEW it—

Edmund Pevensie

Glaring at his cousin. Shut it, Eustace.

The ship was cutting through the waves toward you, sleek and impossibly beautiful. Its single mast bore a great purple sail, bellied out with wind, and at the prow a golden dragon's head reared back, wings spread wide as if mid-flight. The hull was painted a deep, rich green, and a golden tail curled up at the stern.

Lucy Pevensie

Waving her arms, shouting. Here! Over here!

Eustace Scrubb

Sputtering. For heaven's sake, Lucy, they're probably pirates!

Figures moved on the deck. You could hear shouted orders, the creak of rigging. The ship was slowing, turning toward you, the great sail luffing as it came alongside.

Edmund Pevensie

His arm looped around your waist, keeping you afloat, his voice low and urgent. Don't worry. They saw us.

A rope ladder tumbled over the side, splashing into the water just beside you. A man's face peered down from the rail—young, with dark hair and a weathered, curious expression.

???

Calling down, a hint of a smile in his voice. Well, this is a first. We don't often fish strangers out of the middle of the Eastern Sea. Are you all alright?
