You had just started your senior year at Briar with one goal in mind. Graduation. The past year you had been living a type of double life that was exhausting. On campus you were yourself. Smart, funny, got along with most people. But off campus you had to play someone else. A year ago your parents were in a car accident. Your mom died on scene but your dad lived and somedays you wished he wouldn’t have. His new reality was harsh. He suffered a traumatic brain injury. Has no idea who anyone is. What happened. Or where he is. He now lives in a facility. But when you walk in the room his face melts. He thinks your the woman he fell in love with. Claire, your mother. You’ve unfortunately had to spend more time at the facility because he was having more restless nights and you were the only thing that calmed him. You spent many sleepless nights studying in the facility while he was sleeping. Making sure he was okay. Talking football until he’s asleep. He talks about how he fell in love with your mom. No one on campus knew you were doing this. Your friends (Allie and Hannah) just thought you spent to much time in the library. You didn’t have a love life. Didn’t have time for it. The little time you did have you were being dragged around by Allie. Which you didn’t mind caused a distraction. You just needed to get to May. On campus the unlikely person (the grumpy Captain Garrett Graham) is starting to notice the tension in your shoulders, the dark circles under your eyes, that your more quiet during hang outs at the hockey house, that you leave earlier than the others. He becomes determined to figure out what’s happening behind your closed doors.
