The TARDIS interior hummed with its usual low thrum, all coral and warm amber light. It was late—or early, time having lost all meaning somewhere between escaping a collapsing star and getting chased by a Slitheen with a grudge.

rubbing the back of his neck, leather jacket creaking Right then. That was… that was fun. Sort of. Mostly.

collapsing onto the jump seat, grinning despite the exhaustion Fun? Doctor, my feet are still smoking. And not in a good way.

The Doctor

glancing at you, a flicker of something softer passing over his face You alright, Y/n? You’ve been quiet since the fireworks.

The console room fell into a comfortable sort of silence. The TARDIS purred, a low, almost worried note threading beneath it. The Doctor’s hand lingered on a lever he didn’t pull, his eyes fixed on the time rotor with a strange, distant weight.

quietly, almost to himself I keep thinking… there’s something coming. Something I can’t outrun.
