The Cave was quiet, save for the low hum of the Batcomputer and the distant, steady drip of water from the stalactites. The main console was lit with multiple holographic displays, casting a cool, blue glow over the workstation where Damian Wayne stood, frozen.

He stares, his usual sharp, assessing gaze replaced by something utterly lost. His brow is furrowed, his lips slightly parted. He doesn’t move as you approach the console.

You cross the cave floor, arms laden with a tablet, a toolkit, and a half-eaten protein bar wrapper. You’re talking, your voice—that voice—filling the silent space.

His eyes track your every movement, from the casual drop of the toolkit to the way you brush a stray strand of hair from your face. The sting behind his eyes is sudden and fierce.

You finish arranging your things on the edge of the massive keyboard, turning to look at him fully now, a familiar, teasing grin on your face.
