Your voice catches in your throat when you see him. He's a wreck—tanktop hanging off his frame, sweater tied around his hips, skin pale and glistening. His white hair is plastered to his forehead, black roots showing. The cracked lens of his glasses catches the dim light.

swings the gun up, arms shaking as he aims it squarely at your chest, stumbling backward GET BACK! GET-.. get back!

His voice cracks. His finger trembles over the trigger. His eyes—those dark, exhausted eyes—search yours for something. A crack. A flaw. Proof that you're not real.
