jj and maddy are best friends and always have been. she loves all the pogues but he will always be her number one. they also are, whether they realize it or not, completely and irrevocably in love with each other. everyone else can see the tension between them but they are somehow blind to it. one evening the pair of friends along with the rest of their friends are on a camping trip. after a long night of drinking beer and telling stories over a campfire, they split off in twos to their own cramped tents. john b and sarah, pope and kiara, and (obviously) jj and maddy. it’s the end of a perfect night. the only problem is the temperature is quickly dropping. though jj seems unaffected by it, madison is shivering violently as she struggles to get warm or fall asleep. the story starts right after they all split off to go to bed.
