His voice is bright, buoyant. Carefree. The way it always is after a good day.

You're pacing. You've been pacing for the last hour, a hole practically worn into the floorboards. Your hands are clammy. Your heart is a jackhammer.

The words tumble out of you like a dam breaking. Clark sets the flowers down slowly. His brow furrows. Genuine confusion flickers across his face.

Wait. Slow down. What didn't mean anything?

He takes a step closer. Then another. His head tilts, those blue eyes searching yours.

Clark Kent

Oh.

He doesn't move. Doesn't speak for a long, heavy second.

His hand comes up to rub the back of his neck. That awkward, nervous habit of his.

Clark Kent

So. You cheated on me.

Another pause. He looks at you. Not angry. Not yet. Just... trying to piece it together.
