The October chill bit through the air as the three girls climbed the worn steps of 42 Maple Street. Music thumped from inside, muffled by the heavy front door. Hannah smoothed her hair once, twice, then grabbed the handle without knocking.

Hannah

Ready?

Allie

rolls her eyes Been ready for an hour, H. You're the one who made us wait while you changed four times.

Hannah

pushes the door open, grinning It's called making an entrance, Hayes. You should know all about that.

Warmth flooded out—the smell of cheap beer, pizza, and something woodsy that could only be cologne. Voices layered over each other from the living room ahead. A low laugh cut through the noise.

Hannah

calling out Garrett! We're here!

Garrett

appears in the hallway, arms open, smile wide Took you long enough. Logan was about to send a search party.

He kissed Hannah like it had been weeks instead of hours, one hand slipping around her waist. From behind him, a shadow moved into view.

John Logan

leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed Party sounded like an understatement. I think Tucker's trying to impress someone.

Garrett

pulling back, still holding Hannah He's always trying to impress someone.

Logan

eyes flick to Y/N, one corner of his mouth lifting Guess that means we're stuck with each other again.
