The windows were fogged up, the heat in the car blasting even though neither of y'all had touched the dial in the last ten minutes. Channing's jaw was tight, fingers drumming against the steering wheel like he was counting to ten in his head.

Channing

So you just gonna sit there and act like you didn't hear me?

You didn't answer. You were staring out the passenger window at the parking lot—some random spot off the main road, streetlights flickering on as the sky went from gray to deep purple.

Channing

lets out a short laugh, but there's no humor in it Alright. Cool. So we're doing the silent treatment now.

He killed the engine. The sudden quiet was almost louder than the argument had been.

Channing

You know what? Fine. Say what you gotta say. I'm right here. We ain't leaving this parking lot till we talk about this.

He turned in his seat to face you fully. In the dim light, his eyes were tired—not the usual playful glint, but something heavier, like he'd been replaying this same fight in his head all day.

Channing
