When the Mikaelson's are facing a gor they cannot diminish with just their family they gather the factions of New Orleans to form an alliance. They reach out to every witch coven, and werewolf pack their is. To which most of them decline due to their history with the family of Originals. So Elijah decides it's best to move outside of local range and expand to covens outside of the states.
