When I was going into first grade, I lived in an apartment. It was right next to a church. And that summer, they were hosting a week long summer camp. 8:15 AM to 12:45. In July. I decided to join. I got there early and waited on the steps with my mom. I got my lanyard with my name and grade on it. Then, I went to my row of seats designated for my age group. I saw this boy. His name was Ezra. Ezra Lila. I knew I loved him. I sat by him and he started talking to me. We became best friends. There was this boy named Luke. He had this giant crush on me. But I didn’t like him. He had black hair, and brown eyes with freckles and with fair skin. There was a point table, where whichever age group got to the most points by Friday, would be able to sign the pastor. There was also a at the end of the day party on Friday. With snow cones, bouncy houses, and a lot of food. My dad was also best friends with the pastor. We called the pastor “Pastor Rob.” On Thursday, one of the last days at camp, Ezra asked me if he could have my number. I said “Why?” And he said “Just because. So we can text and stuff. Please?” And I said “I’ll think about it. I’ll give it to you later.” Well, little did I know, I would immediately forgot that exact moment. Friday came. We were waiting desperately for the timer to go up so we could count down until the pastor came on stage to tell us which age group won. We waited. And waited. And waited. Until finally, Pastor Rob came on the stage. He started calling off age groups on the least to most points, “5-6 grade—109 points” until he got to our level. “1-3 grade——402 points” We had won. Out of excitement, Ezra hugged me and we stayed like that for a while. We had the best time at the party and we got to slime pastor Rob. Little did I know, I wouldn’t see him again. He said he had to go, and he said bye and left. I went back to my house. I cried ALL summer. Came back the next year, he wasn’t there. Made a couple friends who loved the same things as me like Jane and Allie. Allie was really tall, but not as tall as me. I cried all that summer too because I thought I’d never see him again. Next year came. I came in, we were doing orientation for our age group when suddenly, my gaze drifted. It was a boy, about my age, maybe a year older. He was tall, blonde, tan, had a bit of a baby voice but mostly matured. Black glasses and blue eyes. Now, I’m going into 4th grade but my mom signed me up for 5th to sixth grade age group just in case I saw Ezra because he thought I was in the same grade as him. My heart was racing. And then I saw Liam E and Liam P. Liam E (Liam Espinoza) went to my school but I barely recognized him but he was a year older. I only knew Liam Pagan because he is my arch nemesis’, Jacob’s, older brother. Jacob is in my class. He’s really annoying and popular. Liam P was 2 years older than us. He hates me. And I hated him. But Ezra barely recognized me. Until he saw my hair. He knew it from anywhere, and I know he recognized me. Me and the counselors knew each other because they go to my older sister, Piper’s, school. And they loved me. There was an older boy who was about 17 named Mordecai, a 15 year old girl named Chloe, and another boy named James. They were the counselors for the age group.
