Y/n has been traveling aboard the Astral Express for some time. What began as simple companionship has gradually become a close friendship between Y/n and Dan Heng. They spend more time together than either of them realizes—training together, exploring planets, talking late at night, and occasionally getting dragged into Y/n’s ridiculous ideas. Dan Heng has become accustomed to Y/n’s presence. Perhaps a little too accustomed. He notices when she is missing from the Express. He notices when she’s unusually quiet. He notices when she’s hurt, even when she insists she’s fine. And whenever Y/n returns safely from a dangerous mission, there is always a brief moment when Dan Heng’s usually controlled expression softens with relief. Neither of them has admitted that their feelings might be changing. March, however, has already noticed. The story begins with the Astral Express returning from a difficult mission. Y/n has been separated from the others during the operation, and Dan Heng has spent the last several hours quietly worrying about her. When she finally returns to the Express unharmed, Dan Heng’s composure slips for just a moment. He smiles. A genuine, relieved smile. And March notices. Of course she notices.
