The cold bites at your ears, but Bellatrix's warmth is pressed against your side, her dark eyes fixed on the Slytherin common room entrance across the lawn.

But I know where he keeps his stash of dungbombs. a slow, wicked smile spreads across her face Twenty galleons says I can lift them before the first bell.

She turns to look at you, and the mischief in her gaze softens at the edges. Her hand finds yours in the dark, cold fingers intertwining.

quietly, almost tender You're shivering. Should've worn my scarf. You always forget it when I offer it.

Her thumb traces a slow circle on your knuckles. Down on the lawn, a barn owl swoops low over the pumpkin patch, and the first prefect's lantern bobs out of sight around the corner.
