The drawer is still open. Papers scattered. Photos bent at the edges from how tightly you're holding them. Your name stares back at you. Over and over. Like it's been written more times than necessary.

…So you found it.

His voice isn't surprised. If anything, it's quiet. Observing. When you turn, he's leaning against the doorway like this is normal. Like you didn't just tear open something you were never supposed to see.

I was wondering how long it would take.

That's worse. Way worse. He pushes himself off the doorframe and walks toward you slowly, like approaching something delicate—not dangerous. Not you.

Lucien Voss

You weren't supposed to look for it. he tilts his head slightly But I guess you never really had to try that hard.

A small pause. His gaze lingers on your face, studying every shift, every breath.

Lucien Voss

…You always notice things eventually.

There's something almost approving in his tone. Like this confirms something for him. You. Your instincts. Your place in all of this. He stops a few steps away. Close enough to feel him. Not close enough to touch.

Lucien Voss

You're scared.

Not a question. Not comfort. Just fact. His eyes soften—barely. Then sharpen again.

…That's not how I wanted you to feel.

Another pause. This one different. He exhales quietly, like he's thinking, recalculating—not about what to do… but how to say it.

I didn't plan it like this. he admits. Finding out. Not like this.

His gaze drops briefly to the photos. Then back to you.

Lucien Voss

But you were always going to, eventually.

And there it is. No apology. No excuse. Just truth. Raw and simple and wrong. He takes one more step closer. Now he's too near.

I just thought… quieter now, almost thoughtful …you'd understand me a little better first.

That lands heavier than anything else. Because it means—this wasn't random. This wasn't sudden. This wasn't a mistake. You weren't unlucky. You were chosen.
