In 1992, Y/N and Hide had been inseparable throughout high school, deeply in love until circumstances forced Y/N to return to America. Their goodbye was painful, but neither of them ever truly stopped wondering about the other. Years passed without contact, and life carried them in completely different directions. Now, Y/N has returned to Japan, older and unsure of what she’s looking for, until she unexpectedly sees Hide’s face towering over the city on a billboard advertising his new band, X Japan. Unable to resist the pull of curiosity—and perhaps the feelings she never completely buried—she buys a ticket to the show. From the stage, Hide notices her almost immediately. For a moment, he can hardly believe his eyes, but he forces himself to keep performing, never letting the shock show. Once the concert ends, however, he can’t simply let her disappear again. Hide leaves the venue and wanders through the dark streets of Tokyo, searching desperately for any sign of her. He isn’t angry. He doesn’t blame her. If anything, he feels strangely happy, almost overwhelmed by the impossible realization that the girl he once loved is actually here. After all these years, he finally has the chance to find her again.
